BJD Ear-piercing~!

So... I don't know if you guys noticed, but Ethan? He's kind of a punk/goth-y character as far as his style goes. THUS, I decided to pierce his ears!

Now, ear-piercing is not always the solution to your dolls' earring-needing needs... But, in this case, where I wanted to be able to change his earrings as often (or not often) as I wished, I decided that modding my doll was the best choice. This is a PERMANENT mod! So, BEWARE! Use caution, and do something that I didn't do on the first ear (Hey, it's a learning experience!): use something to make an indentation on the ear before you start drilling! (can you tell that I'm having fun with different font-thingies? XD) On the second ear, I used the tip of the drill bit to lightly, barely drill in, making an indentation, before I started pushing into the ear some to really drill it. Because I didn't make an indentation on the first ear, the pin vise slipped... and his piercing ended up off near the edge of his earlobe... Yeah... But, I learned quickly from my mistake, and pierced the second ear, in my opinion, perfectly~!

Now, down to business... ㅡㅅ ㅡ  (random 'serious kitty' face~!)

I recommend that you wear a mask (and do this outside, if possible), 'cause as you probably already know, resin is dangerous when inhaled...

Sadly, I didn't film it... 'cause I was just way too excited to do my first mod, and didn't even think of filming it. But, I will tell you guys how I did it, and show you the end product!

Step 1. Check out your doll's ears... I know, it sounds weird and creepy, but we (or at least I) do some weird stuff with, or stare creepily at, our dolls. Anyways~ If the earlobe is cast to the head, don't even bother looking any farther. You can only safely pierce you doll's ear(s) if their earlobe is not attached to their head. If it's attached, then you're probably going to drill into its head, which would make your doll very sad and make you sad.

Step 2. Get a small manual hand drill (I used a Hobbico pin vise which was only $11 and came with, like, 5 or 6 drill bits (I got it at my local hobby store)) Do NOT get an electric drill, and do NOT try using yours, the heat from it will melt the plastic/resin, plus you'll have, like NO CONTROL.

Step 3. Mark with a pencil (just a normal one is fine, you're going to be drilling away that spot anyways...) where you want the piercings. Check, using your psychic powers, if it's too close to, in the back, where your doll's ear and head meet. If it is, simply erase it quickly and re-mark. (You also have to decide now what angle you're going to drill at)

Step 4. This is where I had the most trouble, so I'll tell you how I did it. Firstly, get the earring you're going to put in your doll's ear (small human ones work well for 1/3 scale dolls). Hold the post up to the drill bits and select whichever drill bit is closest to the size of the earring post. Put that one in your drill.

Step 5. MAKE THE INDENTATION!

Step 6. Get your drill and position it so that you won't drill into the head if you get too drill-happy (also, for extra safety, put the eraser of the pencil you used earlier (assuming you used a mechanical pencil) behind the ear, in between the ear and the head).

Step 7. Start drilling! Constantly check that the angle is right, and how close you are to breaking through!  When you're almost through, you should be able to see a grayish-blueish dot on the back of your doll's ear...

Step 8. Once done, don't pull your drill right out, turn it the opposite direction a little first, or the whole way, if necessary.

Step 9. Stick the earrings in~! And you're DONE!

GOOD LUCK~! <3

BJD updates~ (updates from November 22, 2013 to March 2, 2014)

1. I got Xander's head.
2. I got Xander's identical twin brother's head as well (box opening below) (yay for birthdays!)
3. I ordered a Doll Family- A 2nd gen 1/3 body for them from jeeryama on ebay (I am currently waiting for it to be made) (again, yay for birthdays! (or birthday money, in this case))
4. Decided to make Inhyung someone else. Her name is Bai Jing-Jing Ning now (<- those first two names are beyond cute when written in Chinese). She's the other, new, Inhyung's little sister. (tho I still don't have the new Inhyung doll... lol, 인형 doll... i sorta made a pun-thingy...) XD
5. Decided on all my dolls', even the ones I don't have yet, names.
6. OH! Almost forgot! Also got Alex and Sasha's mother as a graduation present! <3 (box opening, again, is below)
7. Went to IKEA, got those duktig beds for Sasha and Alex... and sometimes their mother.

Little update as to how my dolls look now (and their full names):
I apologize for my (probably) horrible Chinese, as I don't speak or read Chinese and am using a mixture of babynames.com, google, wikipedia, and google translate ^^; So, if you happen to know Chinese names well, and I messed up, feel free to correct me!

 Here's my little man, Sasha Xiao-Chen () Lucas~ >.<
I changed his wig to a white wool one, other than that, nothing has really changed... And he's sitting in his bed, holding the pillow I made him and being surrounded by fluffy white pillows I also made him~ ^3^
This would be Alexandra 'Alex' Li-Xue () Lucas, with her new long flowing, pink, curly locks~ Also in her bed, for which I made everything~
This is Alex and Sasha's (as well as their little sister who I don't have yet, Lexi's) dad! Alexander 'Xander' Haydn Lucas! His character is not Chinese... obviously... so no Chinese here... or for his twin brother... And he's just a head right now, but he'll get to at least try on a body within the next month~
This is Alex, Alexis, and Sasha's mother, Xiao-Hong () 'Xiao ()' Qi () Lucas. She be a fabulous Only-Doll Chiyao... ALSO! Her head is 7/8... I bought 8/9 since she's 1/3 scale... T^T But I was wrong.... beware the head size!!
And lastly, is another floating head I did, which will hopefully soon have a body... Ethan Sasha Lucas!

And here's Bai (formerly know as Inhyung)'s name written in Chinese ('cause her first and middle names are seriously adorable in my opinion (not to mention very easy to write!))And I'm aware that commonly, Bai would be the family name/surname/last name, but it's so cute~ >3< And there's no picture because she looks the exact same as she did when I 'took inventory' at the end of last year:
Bai () Jing-Jing (晶晶) Ning ()

PS: If you're wondering why my Chinese-named dolls have middle names, it's 'cause none of my characters, including Xiao and Bai, are Chinese, as in, from China... (tho, the dolls themselves are all made by Chinese companies (except Bai... she's Hujoo.. which is Korean), which helped me decide to at least give most of them Chinese middle names.) However, Bai's grandparents and Xiao's grandparents are both from China.)

BOX OPENINGS~!

Circle Lens Review~ Max Misty Brown on light eyes

Haha~ Long overdue review is coming your way! I got these complimentary a while back, due to a mess up with my order, from ilovecirclelenses.com. If you check out my Candy Magic Violet review, you'll see me talk about the lenses shortly and go more in depth as to what the mess up was. Now, these are weird (good weird) lenses, lemme tell you why.

Design: This is where the weirdness starts. They have about two or three colors in them, the weirdness is the color choices. But this isn't really the color section, so I'll focus more on the design.
Which features a good-sized ring around the edge, and a nice blending of colors.

Color: Onto the real weirdness~!! They are, I swear, yellow. Even the darker, supposedly brown, parts towards the outside are really rather golden. BUT, this works! Why? Because my eyes' innermost color is actually gold/yellow/ridiculously light brown. SO, it actually blends in rather well!

Enlargement: Pretty nice... IDK if I'm just simply becoming desensitized to enlargement, but nothing seems to really make my eyes look huge anymore. I feel that I've lost my objectivity... ANYWAYS~ C: They are, I believe, only 14.5mm, which is small for a circle lens.

Comfort: Very nice~ I like~

Suited for light eyes?
Hmm... I think so~! They blend in well with the one color that pretty much everyone has in their eyes: gold/yellow/ridiculously light brown! :)
